Course synopsis
Learn how to make REAL herbal skin care while working (and making) a selection of herbal extracts. This unique online course demystifies the chemistry behind herbal extracts and makes it practical, approachable, and directly applicable to natural skin care.
You will learn how to choose the right solvent for your precious herbs - whether it's water, ethanol, raw honey, glycerine or botanical oils - to target the extraction of herbal constituents with the desired dermal effect. A detailed overview of herbal constituents such as tannins, carotenoids, terpenes, alkaloids, and polyphenols is naturally a big part of the course.
After the theoretical part, I will introduce you to the basics of herbal extracts making. Finally, we will discuss how to best use each extract type and in what amount.
You will:
- Elevate your understanding of basic chemistry principles that govern herbal extracts making.
- Get access to an easy-to-follow practical overview of key herbal constituents relevant for topical use, including their polarity, extractability and practical use.
- Find the context for the use of herbal extracts in topical herbal medicines and how they combine with various dermal dosage forms.
